SOFTBALL

Last week’s hometown highlights: A 7-1 week with six straight closing wins in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was a great start to the collegiate coaching career of Amber Savage. Carissa Lusk, of Lititz, led the offense with a .471 batting average; Payton Crawford, of Bloomsburg, hit .462 with four doubles and nine RBIs; Taylor Brown, of Bellefonte, hit .379 with eight RBIs; Ryleigh Rinker, of Poway, California, hit .304; and Sofia Mileto, of Loyalsock Township, hit .300 with 12 runs scored. In the circle, Mackenzi Tice, of Mansfield, was 5-0 in four starts and one relief appearance, with a 1.66 ERA. She struck out 34 and walked 29. In the finale against The College of New Jersey, Tice got behind 4-1 early, but hung in as the offense started clicking, and she went all nine innings for the “W.”
